استُلهمت منحوتة «جسر التواصل» من عمق العلاقات التاريخية والروحية والدبلوماسية التي جمعت المملكة العربية السعودية وجمهورية نيجيريا الاتحادية عبر العصور، حيث تجسد عملاً فنياً دبلوماسياً يعبر عن الامتداد الحضاري والإنساني بين الشعبين. وتعود جذور هذا التواصل إلى بدايات انتشار الإسلام من الجزيرة العربية إلى غرب إفريقيا، واستقبال الشعب النيجيري للدعوة الإسلامية، لتبدأ بعدها رحلات الحج والارتباط الروحي بالمملكة العربية السعودية، مما رسّخ أواصر المحبة والتقارب الثقافي والديني بين البلدين.
ومع تطور العلاقات الدولية، امتد هذا التواصل ليشمل مجالات السياسة والتجارة والطاقة، خاصة بعد انضمام جمهورية نيجيريا الاتحادية إلى منظمة أوبك، التي تمثل المملكة العربية السعودية أحد أهم أركانها العالمية. ومن هنا جاءت فكرة المنحوتة كرمز بصري يجسد جسراً معنوياً يربط بين جدة وأبوجا، ويحمل رسالة سلام وتعاون وتواصل حضاري بين الشعوب.
«Bridge of Communication»
Inspiration
The sculpture “Bridge of Communication” was inspired by the deep historical, spiritual, diplomatic, and humanitarian relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Federal Republic of Nigeria throughout the ages. It represents a unique diplomatic artwork that reflects the civilizational and human connection between the two nations. The roots of this relationship date back to the early spread of Islam from the Arabian Peninsula to West Africa, when the Nigerian people embraced the Islamic message. This marked the beginning of continuous spiritual journeys and pilgrimage connections with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, strengthening bonds of affection, cultural exchange, and religious closeness between the two peoples.
As international relations evolved, this connection expanded into political, commercial, and energy sectors, particularly after the Federal Republic of Nigeria joined OPEC, in which the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia plays a leading global role. From this vision emerged the concept of the sculpture as a symbolic bridge extending between Jeddah and Abuja, carrying a message of peace, cooperation, and cultural communication between nations.

أُنجزت منحوتة «جسر التواصل» تحت إشراف القنصل العام لجمهورية نيجيريا الاتحادية في جدة،
سعادة السفير المعظم ابراهيم جبريل نايايا،
الذي دعم المشروع بوصفه عملاً يعكس عمق العلاقات الثنائية بين البلدين، ويجسد رسالة دبلوماسية وثقافية من خلال الفن.
وقد تولّى تنفيذ المشروع الفنان المهندس ناصر هوساوي، الذي قام بتطوير الرؤية الفنية وتحويلها إلى عمل فني متكامل يجمع بين الدقة الهندسية والرمزية البصرية، لتصبح المنحوتة شاهداً على قوة الفن في بناء جسور التواصل بين الأمم، وترجمةً بصرية لقيم السلام والمحبة والتقارب الإنساني.
The “Bridge of Communication” sculpture was completed under the supervision of
His Excellency Ambassador Muazam I. J. Nayaya,
Consul General of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in Jeddah, who supported the project as a representation of the strong bilateral relationship between the two nations and as a diplomatic and cultural message expressed through art.
The project was executed by the Artist and Engineer Nasser Howsawi, who developed the artistic vision and transformed it into a complete sculptural masterpiece that combines engineering precision with visual symbolism. The sculpture stands today as a testament to the power of art in building bridges between nations and as a visual expression of peace, love, and human connection.

This artwork is a sculptural relief panel depicting the map of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, including all federal states and their geographical boundaries. The design combines geographical accuracy with artistic expression, while incorporating the colors of the Nigerian flag in a harmonious and visually compelling manner.
The panel features representations of more than 34 mineral resources distributed across the country. At least one mineral has been highlighted for each state to showcase its natural wealth and economic significance. To maintain visual clarity and aesthetic balance, state nameplates were designed with contrasting colors: white nameplates appear on green areas, while green nameplates appear on white areas, ensuring readability and enhancing the overall composition.
Description
The project underwent extensive research and development before reaching its final form. This included studying official maps of Nigeria’s federal states and reviewing geological and mineral resource data from across the country. Considerable effort was dedicated to ensuring the accuracy of state boundaries and geographical representation within the sculpture.
Each mineral element was individually designed and sculpted before being integrated into the overall composition of the map. The process involved numerous stages of experimentation, refinement, and artistic development to achieve a balance between educational value and artistic excellence. The final artwork offers viewers a unique opportunity to discover the richness of Nigeria’s natural resources through an inspiring and visually engaging artistic experience
Behind the Scenes
This project was designed and executed by Engineer and Artist Nasir Hawsawi, who led all phases of research, concept development, sculpting, and artistic production. Special attention was given to accurately representing the federal states and positioning mineral resources according to their geographical locations.
The minerals were sculpted and artistically rendered using color and form to create an attractive visual representation while maintaining balance and avoiding overcrowding within the composition. The project was proudly supervised and supported by His Excellency the Consul General of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in Jeddah, in recognition of its role in showcasing Nigeria’s natural wealth and promoting cultural and educational awareness through art.

مرّ المشروع بعدة مراحل بحثية وفنية قبل وصوله إلى صورته النهائية، حيث تم جمع ودراسة الخرائط الرسمية للولايات النيجيرية ومراجعة البيانات المتعلقة بالثروات المعدنية المنتشرة في مختلف أنحاء البلاد. كما تطلب العمل مراجعة دقيقة لمواقع الولايات وحدودها لضمان سلامة التمثيل الجغرافي داخل المنحوتة.
وشملت مراحل التنفيذ تصميم العناصر المعدنية بشكل منفرد، ثم إعادة صياغتها فنياً لتصبح جزءاً من التكوين العام للخريطة دون الإخلال بجماليتها أو وضوحها. وقد استغرق العمل ساعات طويلة من الدراسة والتجريب والتطوير للوصول إلى لوحة تجمع بين القيمة الفنية والرسالة المعرفية، وتمنح المشاهد فرصة لاكتشاف الثروات الطبيعية التي وهبتها الأرض النيجيرية لشعبها بطريقة إبداعية ومؤثرة.
الكواليس
العمل عبارة عن لوحة نحتية فنية تجسد خريطة جمهورية نيجيريا الاتحادية بكامل ولاياتها الفيدرالية وحدودها الجغرافية، مصممة بأسلوب بصري يجمع بين الدقة الجغرافية والهوية الوطنية. وقد تم دمج ألوان العلم النيجيري داخل الخريطة بتناغم فني يعزز حضور الرموز الوطنية داخل العمل.
وتحتوي اللوحة على تمثيل لأكثر من 34 معدناً موزعة على مختلف الولايات، حيث تم اختيار معدن واحد على الأقل لكل ولاية بهدف إبراز أهم مواردها الطبيعية. كما روعي في تصميم بطاقات أسماء الولايات تحقيق تباين بصري واضح؛ فإذا ظهرت الولاية ضمن مساحة خضراء جاءت البطاقة باللون الأبيض، وإذا كانت ضمن مساحة بيضاء جاءت البطاقة باللون الأخضر، بما يضمن وضوح القراءة ويعزز التوازن الجمالي للتصميم.
الوصف
تم تنفيذ هذا المشروع على يد المهندس الفنان ناصر هوساوي، الذي تولى مراحل البحث والتصميم والنحت والإخراج الفني، مع الحرص على تحقيق أعلى درجات الدقة في تمثيل الولايات الفيدرالية وتوزيع المعادن وفق مواقعها الجغرافية.
وقد تم تجسيد المعادن بأسلوب نحتي وتشكيلات فنية ملونة تعكس طبيعتها بصورة جمالية وتقريبية، مع مراعاة التوازن البصري وتجنب الازدحام داخل اللوحة. كما حظي المشروع بإشراف ودعم كريم من سعادة القنصل العام لجمهورية نيجيريا الاتحادية في جدة، تقديراً لأهمية العمل في إبراز ثروات نيجيريا الطبيعية وتعزيز الوعي الثقافي والمعرفي من خلال الفن.

استُلهمت هذه المنحوتة من الثروات الطبيعية الهائلة التي تزخر بها جمهورية نيجيريا الاتحادية، ومن أهمية تعزيز الوعي الوطني بقيمة الموارد المعدنية المنتشرة في مختلف الولايات الفيدرالية. يجسد العمل الفني خريطة نيجيريا بتقسيماتها الإدارية وحدود ولاياتها، في تصميم بصري يجمع بين الجمال الفني والدلالة المعرفية، حيث يندمج العلم النيجيري بانسجام داخل التكوين العام للمنحوتة، ليعكس وحدة الوطن وتنوع موارده الطبيعية.
وقد روعي في التصميم الحفاظ على وضوح الولايات ومواقعها الجغرافية، مع معالجة بصرية مبتكرة لبطاقات الأسماء من خلال التباين بين اللونين الأخضر والأبيض المستوحى من ألوان العلم النيجيري، بحيث تظهر البطاقة باللون الأبيض فوق المساحات الخضراء، وباللون الأخضر فوق المساحات البيضاء، بما يحقق أعلى درجات الوضوح والتوازن البصري.

The inspiration behind this artwork stems from a desire to transform Nigeria’s vast natural wealth into an engaging visual and artistic experience that highlights the abundance of resources found across the nation. The project draws inspiration from the country's rich geological diversity and the importance of raising awareness of the mineral resources distributed throughout its federal states.
The artwork also reflects the concept of national unity by seamlessly integrating the Nigerian flag into the composition of the map, symbolizing that these natural resources are a shared national heritage that unites the people of Nigeria under one flag.
